Adapting yourself to your surroundings!

Life challenges you in many ways, and the biggest challenge is adapting yourself to your surroundings; be it a new job, a new house, a new relationship, marriage, becoming a mum or something as simple as adapting to the weather outside! Similarly, when I was pregnant with my older child, I was craving chocolate orange mousse so badly and could not find it anywhere in the shops. The craving was so bad that I started searching recipes on how to make eggless chocolate orange mousse as we do not make food at home with egg. This lead me to try many different recipes and in the end, I mixed and matched and made up my own recipe and once that mousse was made, I could not wait to eat it. As I took each and every bite of that mousse, my pregnancy brain and heart was enjoying every single bit of it. Only a pregnant woman will know what it means when your cravings are satisfied.

This then lead to me making more and more chocolate mousse and trifles. Then came another craving for chocolate orange cookies. Sainsbury's usually makes white chocolate orange cookies, however after searching every single Sainsbury that I could find locally, they had stopped making them and replaced them for Raspberry and white chocolate cookies as raspberries were in season then! I was so disappointed as I could not satisfy my craving so...... What I did was adapt to my surroundings and started searching for recipes again and mixed and matched to get the perfect recipe. Once I had mastered the perfect recipe to satisfy my craving, my pregnancy stomach was happy as well as all those who had tasted my cookies. My cravings for anything which was chocolate orange the highlight of my first pregnancy as well as jalapeños and milk (which I absolutely can't stand drinking now)!

From all this cooking lead me to making trifles, mousse, cookies and cakes for family and friends which has now lead to starting up a business. We are always adapting to our surroundings constantly consciously or sub-consciously. During pregnancy, our body is adapting to suit our baby growing inside, and after giving birth our lives adapt to cater for our childs needs. Just like so, my hobbies and time in the kitchen feeding my children lead to dessertsbyarti being born.
